Engagement Ring ….?
I’m currently looking for engagement rings and would prefer an ‘emerald’ cut diamond, does anyone have one and what size? I’m looking at 1.00 Ct at the moment but don’t want it to look garish. The shops in my area don’t seem to have this type of cut and seem to only go up to just over 0.5 Ct in other cuts. I’ve looked on net and they all look lovely but very hard to gauge how they will look on my finger! Help?!

Mine is .89carat, colorless E, VVS2, excellent cut, very good polish, very good symmetry, medium girdle, no fluorescence, length to width is 1.34:1 measurements are 6.77×5.02×2.92 it was 4000 loose. We got a platinum solitaire setting for 700

So you can see the measurements of a 1ct is 7mmx5mm
measurements of a .75ct is 6.5mmx4.5mm
I definately prefer the width around 5mm
So my guess is you want to stay between these sizes. I would consider going a little smaller if you have a very small hand/finger. Honestly mine looks large on my hand and I am nearly 6 ft, can palm a basketball, and wear a size 9 ring.
Because the emerald cut is a step cut there are less facets, meaning that inclusions are more visible and cant be hidden as easily in other shapes. For this reason, the clarity should be a higher clarity, I would recommend choosing a diamond in the VVS2-VS1 range.
I searched both sites. Brilliance had the best of what I would consider, these change quickly, and the 7/8ths carat size is hard to get (.83-.94).
